I recently picked up the motor for a Kamasura VRX motorized bicycle to use for something cool.

For now I’m mounting it on this JC Higgins.

I’ve been doing a little work on the Swinger 1. I welded up the cracked fork stop and trimmed off the reflector brackets.

Just picked up a Swinger 1 frame. I swapped over the parts from my Swinger 2, so it wont take long to complete. It’ll have an E50 running the Tomos A55 top end.

I tore the VeloSolex 3800 motor down today and replaced the gaskets. All the internals looked great. Once I put it back together it started right up and runs strong.

I’m back up to three running bikes on the road. The 78′ tomos, the 98′ tomos, and the 74′ solex. Not sure which bike I will work on next, maybe the moby av88 or the solex 3800.

In the fall I had been having some issues with the 3800 solex. It would start but didn’t have any power. Taking advantage of this nice weather I took it out today and did a little wrenching. While testing the spark I noticed an odd sound. I was able to track it down and it became quite obvious that the cylinder base gasket is leaking. This loss in crankcase pressure would explain why it ran poorly. Luckily it is an easy fix. I had feared it might have been the crank seal that was leaking.

I tore the top end down on the blue tomos #1 and the cylinder ended up being out of spec. I figured its perfect to try out a little porting.

I recently picked up a used techno boss/fuego expansion chamber for a puch moped and started hacking it up immediately.

As you can see the header extends into the chamber which hurts performance a little. I had a new header for a Tomos two piece biturbo that I angled for the Tomos A35 and welded it up. I increased the header length from 11 3/4″ to 13″ to see if it lowers the power band any. I can always take a few inches out if it doesn’t work well. The finished pipe with the new header is at the top. Below it is a factory Puch Tecno boss, and the old header.

I’ve been making a little progress on the Harley. I’m using a general tank and a modified bench seat for a cafe’ racer look.
